ITINERARY ~ (subject to changes)
Day 1 - Dec 7th
Arrival in Mexico City
We will transport you to your hostel or hotel at the designated times. If you arrive before 2:30 pm, you will have the opportunity to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 7:00 pm.
Day 2 - Dec 8th
Mexico City's Historical and Spiritual Treasures
We will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, explore the Templo Mayor, and visit the site of Juan Diego’s baptism in Tlatelolco. We will enter several colonial churches built by the first missionary orders—such as the Order of Friars Minor, the Order of Preachers, and the Society of Jesus—and learn how each contributed uniquely to the evangelization of Mexico.
Day 3 - Dec 9th
Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica
At dawn, we set out from Saint Juan Diego's former house and will walk, just as he did, a four-hour pilgrimage toward the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe (optional van transportation will be available). This is known as the Way (or “camino”) of Saint Juan Diego. Upon reaching the Basilica, we will participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, ascend Tepeyac Hill—the very place where Our Lady appeared—and immerse ourselves in the holiness of this sacred site.
Day 4 - Dec 10th
Pre-Hispanic Cultures and Miracles
We will visit the historic Acolman Hacienda, where we will learn about the early catechesis carried out by the Order of Saint Augustine in Mexico. We will also visit the site of the healing of St Juan Diego’s uncle by Our Lady of Guadalupe. We will then explore the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacán. Finally, we will learn about the profound intellectual and missionary influence of the Society of Jesus in Mexico and its contribution to the formation of Christian culture.
Day 5 - Dec 11th
Martyrdom and Devotion
We will visit the Sagrada Familia Church and the Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro Museum to learn about the heroic witness of faith that emerged during the Christian persecution in early 20th-Century Mexico. We will also celebrate Holy Mass at La Conchita Chapel, the first chapel built in Mexico City by Hernán Cortés. We will then return to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe for a time of personal prayer and exploration. In the evening, the group will gather for a farewell dinner at a traditional Mexican restaurant, giving thanks for the graces received throughout the pilgrimage.
Day 6 - Dec 12th
Carmelites Monastery and Anthropology Museum
At the request of Emperor Charles V, the Carmelite Order was invited to Mexico with the mission of praying for the land and its people. We will visit a Carmelite monastery and church, entering into their spirit of contemplation and intercession for the world. Later, we will visit the National Museum of Anthropology, where we will deepen our understanding of the Aztec civilization and its worldview. This visit will help us appreciate more fully the cultural and spiritual context into which Our Lady brought the Gospel. There will be free time in the afternoon for rest, personal exploration, or quiet reflection
Day 7 - Dec 13th
Return Home
We bid farewell to Mexico City, conclude our journey with Our Lady and return spiritually enriched to our homes.
